Flower Child

On Friday (last Friday), Maygan and I went to the flower market in downtown LA. We were hoping we’d find flowers to practice making bouquets and boutonnières for our weddings.

Flowers 002

Maygan’s niece, Kyra, wanted to tag along for the ride. ;)

And boy did we ever find flowers! It was ahhh-maaazing. So many colors and fragrances and CHEAP PRICES! I was in flower heaven.

Flowers 004 Do you see all those apothecary jars in the background!? They were so cute. Had I not had to fly back home, I would’ve most definitely bought a few dozen to bring back with me. #obsessed

Gorgeous red roses. Our wedding flowers are red and white roses, so I was in heaven when I spotted these. I got 50 roses for less than $24! The flower market is a wonderful place.

It was so fun to shop for flowers that day. Tomorrow I’ll show you what we did with them. :)

Babies Are Here!

Sorry I’ve been MIA. It’s been a whirlwind of a few days.

MandB
The big news that I’m so excited about is that Michelle and Brandon’s twin girls are here!

(I would post pictures of the twins, but I’d rather wait until Michelle and Brandon do so. It just doesn’t feel right for me to post photos of the babes on the blog just yet - seeing as they’re not my children. Ha!)

Mikaela Lynn and Kesara Brooke were born on Friday, April 15th. Mikaela was 3 lbs 3 oz, and Kesara was 2 lbs 3 oz. Both girls are doing incredibly well! Michelle keeps saying over and over how blessed they are and I could not agree more. Both girls are breathing all on their own. Mikaela is completely off oxygen and Kesara just needs a little to help her along. Such miracles.

I was able to visit them all today at the hospital and I literally spent two hours in the NICU just staring at both of them.  They are absolutely beautiful. It was so neat to see each of their personalities - at only four days old. Mikaela is very calm and quiet. Kesara is a little wiggle worm and so alert! I just love these girls.

Michelle is recovering well from her c-section. She’s up and moving around. She’s really amazing. Her and Brandon have the best attitude and outlook on the early birth of their girls. They are so positive and just incredibly happy and proud of their new daughters. It was so cute to see Brandon today taking care of his girls. He’s a very hands-on dad and you can just tell that those little girls already have him wrapped around their itty bitty fingers. Michelle is already an amazing mother. She seems so relaxed and is so nurturing to these little ones.

There were so many people saying prayers for these babies over the past week and the prayers have more than been answered. God is good! The girls are doing AMAZING and Michelle and Brandon are just the proudest parents.

I’m so happy for them, and so glad I was able to see them all today.

Congratulations on your two, beautiful miracles Michelle and Brandon!

Love,
Auntie Kay Kay :)

Fantabulous Friday!

I’m down in Los Angeles visiting this pretty (BFF) lady for a few days.

Maygan 001

We have been doing a lot of eating, shopping, tanning, eating, wedding crafts and chatting away! I think the last time I saw Maygan was about six months ago. So we were long overdue for a BFF meet-up!

Friends are great,

Before and After – Bedroom Edition

I’m pretty sure I forgot to post about this. When Kevin and I registered at Macy’s, we found this bedding set that we loved! So we registered for it. Then a couple days later I also found out that it was going out of stock. *major minor panic attack* So I ran to Macy’s and bought it because it wouldn’t be around by the time people started buying us wedding gifts and this was a MUST. HAVE.

Our bedding before…Bedding 001

Lots of browns. It got to feeling very blah and boring after a while.

Our bedding after…

Bedding 002

This was a 12-piece bedding set. I didn’t even know 12-piece bedding sets existed. But they do. I was able to get a 40% discount on it and ended up paying less than $200; which I thought was a great deal. I need to figure out what to hang over our night stands, but for now we love it. I’ll probably add a couple light blue throw pillows in there (as if there weren’t enough pillows on the bed already - - eight to be exact) to give it a little color. I’d love to do pink, but Kevin nixed that idea real quick. ;)

Hospital = Waiting = Draining

Hey all.

I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was a little draining, to be perfectly honest. Mom got through her surgery just fine (thank you for all the prayers) and I was able to help Dad take care of her. She's doing surprisingly well, so that made me feel good when I had to leave to come back home yesterday.

I would just like to say this: for those of you who have experienced loved ones in the hospital for any period of time - whether it be a day, a month, or possibly a year - I have so much respect for you. A hospital is a draining place. I think the thing that gets to me the most is the waiting. Waiting to be admitted, waiting for the procedure or surgery to be over, waiting to heal, waiting to make sure infection doesn't set in, waiting to be discharged. It's just a whole bunch of WAITING and I am not good with that at all. So to those of you who have had to experience that, I got a very tiny sense of what you've been through and I don't know how you've done it. With God's grace is the only way I can think of.

Speaking of hospitals, my very good friend is in the hospital. I can't go into details about who she is and why she's in there, but please keep her in your prayers that everything goes well. I can't stop thinking about her and I just want everything to go smoothly.

So needless to say, I am drained today. Emotionally and physically (I haven't been eating much lately). I'm hoping this week that I can re-charge and get back into the groove of everything. :)

God Bless,
