1. I had to be up at 3:30 in the AM this morning. Early mornings and I do not get along. And given the headache I awoke with, we're not really on speaking terms at the moment.

2. I still cannot kick the bad habit of biting my nails. Any advice?

3. We're moving the last of our house this weekend and I'm concerned that the moving truck isn't going to fit all of our stuff. The Husband assures me that it will. I guess we'll find out tomorrow, won't we?

4. No Baby Pino this month. I guess we'll see what next month brings.

5. Kahlua still sleeps in the bed with us, and I'm certain she'll continue to do so as long as she lives. She's barely four pounds and is about the size of a large potatoe so it's not like she takes up a lot of real estate. Plus, she keeps me toasty warm at night!

The Bella Blender and a Prayer

I've been living with my MIL for five days now and it's been going well. I am a major creature of habit so trying to find my new norm and setting a schedule is a work in progress, but I'll get there.

Kevin has been travelling for work this week so he's not moved in yet, but he will be by this weekend. I sure do miss him.

My new obsession is SMOOTHIES!!! And my new favorite gadget is the Bella Cucina Rocket Blender; it's a lot like the Bullet. You just put the stuff in, give it a turn and there you have it. A smoothie! My MIL has the Bella Blender and it's my new best friend. I've used it twice in the past 12 hours. Ha!

I may or may not have shed a tear or two when Harry Potter is told about his parents at the end of the first book. Does that make me weird?

I went for a run last night. I know. I'm just as surprised as you are. I didn't even plan on running either. I kind of just got the urge as I was walking Stella after work and we just...started...running. Makes me sound like Forest Gump, doesn't it?

New Digs and the Silent Treatment

Well, I'm all moved into my MIL's house. It didn't take too long to get settled in. I pretty much only had to get my clothes and bathroom stuff situated.

This week I'll be staying with my MIL while Kevin travels for work. Then by this weekend he'll be here too and things should be somewhat back to "normal."

Luckily, I was able to keep my job and they let me transfer to an office nearby. This office is nothing like the office in San Francisco.

The office in SF is a lot newer - this one is not.

The office in SF has a lot of natural light that comes in. This one does not.

My fellow employees at the SF office talk to each other - employees don't really talk to one another here. Ha! I have two employees that I work with here who aren't really on speaking terms, but they both speak to me. A little awkward? Yes, I'd say so.

The dogs are slowly adjusting to their new digs. They get to go on very long walks every day, out in the country so I think they're much happier about that - and so am I.

We just transferred a good chunk of money into our savings account - so we're already starting on our goal to save, save, save!

By the way, seeing as I work for a bank and all, you'd think I'd get President's Day off as well, right?

Wrong.

I am working today.

At least no one else is, which makes for a very quiet day. Especially since my new co-workers give each other the silent treatment. ;)

It's finally Friday!

I've been busy packing this week. Not heat, don't worry. ;)
Packing both at work and at home. If I never had to pack another box again, I'd be a happy lady.

Thank you all for your sweet comments about our move. I'm sure I'll have lots to post about living in a new place and with a roomie (aka my MIL).

Today will be my last day working in San Francisco. I'm excited because I no longer have to make the dreadful commute and I'm looking forward to working closer to where we live! It'll be a new adventure!

Since I'll still have to drive into SF once every other week or so, I decided to try out an audiobook since I won't have the "luxury" of reading on the train anymore. The one I chose is the first Harry Potter book. I've already started it and so far audiobooks aren't too bad! They are incredibly too pricey though, in my opinion.

And for your Friday viewing pleasure, here are my pups arguing with each other the other night. :)

Moving On Up

I can finally blog about the fact that we're moving!!!

It's been a good few months of the unknown with our jobs and such, but our goal for this year was to get out of the area we live in now and move about an hour farther north. Mostly to be closer to family and also because the cost of living in this area is just ridiculous. We'd like to buy a house, save, start a family (in no particular order) and we just won't be able to do that living here.

So that would be the reason I've been a tad absent from the blog and stressed with life. But it now finally feels like we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The plan is that we will be moving in with my MIL. Ha! It's okay though, because I love her and we get along great. Living with her will allow us to save A TON of money, pay down debt and hopefully look into buying a house sometime in the future.

Some things still have to be ironed out with our jobs, but that's a whole other post for a whole other day.

It's been a tough go of it trying to make this happen, but it's happening. And a great thing about this is we will be close to Kevin's grandparents which is a big plus right now since his grandpa has been sick.

The move will be a big adjustment for everyone (my mom is still dealing with the fact that we will be moving farther away from them) but it'll all turn out great. I'm sure of it! :)

The Love Thing

Playing Catch Up

On Saturday we took the dogs to get their vaccines. They had to draw blood to test for heart worms and the vet couldn't get any blood from Kahlua! She had to try two different veins, one on each front leg, and barely a drop of blood would come out. Apparently, the pup has really low blood pressure. Poor thing was not happy. Stella, on the other hand was happy as a clam; during the blood draw and the two shots. She basically grew up in a vet's office her first six months of life so she's used to all that.

I've been sick for the past week and today I'm finally feeling like myself again. The only good thing about being sick was getting at least nine hours of sleep each night. It felt glorious!

Over the weekend I read the book Matched by Ally Condie. It wasn't very good. Not very exciting and kind of slow, and I couldn't really get into the characters. It's a trilogy so because I can't just leave all the books un-read I'm currently reading the second book, Crossed. So far it's a littler better than Matched, but I wouldn't really recommend them if you're looking for a read to really sink your teeth into.

Kevin's grandpa Joe is in the hospital. :( If you wouldn't mind saying a little prayer or sending good vibes his way, we'd appreciate it.

So, I've completely gained all my weight back. No bueno. I'm going to blame it on stress. Ha! I do have plans to lose the weight soon. We have a wedding to go to in Lake Tahoe the end of May, so that's my motivation right now.

For Valentine's I bought myself Kevin got me these pair of earrings from Stella Dot. I love them lots!

You never know!

Every morning when I get off the train there's this man that plays his saxophone for all the commuters. He would sit in the same spot, every morning, with little inspirational quotes posted near him, his hat on the ground and a passerby or two would drop some cash in his hat, or stop to talk to him. Nothing out of the norm, really.

This morning when I got off the train I noticed a lot of people gathered around the area where Saxophone Guy would play; but he wasn't there. Instead were two copies of the same newspaper article taped to the wall and people were all crowded around these articles reading them. I didn't really stop to read said articles, but I glanced and noticed a picture of Saxophone Guy with the headline that read "APD Catches Killer." 

Say what?!?!

After talking to some co-workers and with the help of Google, turns out that Saxophone Guy has had a warrant out for his arrest. Apparently, he was wanted for the murder of his wife in the 80's, and over the weekend they finally tracked him down in San Francisco. Cah-ray-zee! 

I know the whole thing about "innocent until proven guilty" but it just goes to show that you really don't know the history and life of [what appear to be] everyday people. Saxophone Guy just seemed like a normal, older man. He appeared nice enough. Never would anyone have known that he was a fugitive.

And for the record, I'm kind of obsessed with murder mysteries and such. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the I.D. channel is one of my favorites. So this whole thing intrigues me.

Six months, deviled eggs and a heavy heart

How's that for a title!?
I've been itching to post all day but just haven't been able to find the time at work. ;)

Anyways, I wanted to be sure and document that yesterday - February 6th - marked six months since we got married! It's gone by so incredibly fast. These past few months we've been faced with some challenges but I couldn't feel more lucky that I can face these challenges head on with my best buddy.

Our Super Bowl Sunday was pretty low-key. We had a couple friends over but I was so tired hungover that I didn't do much to prepare for the big game. I did however, make Avocado Deviled Eggs which were pretty scrumptious. But, I think I like regular deviled eggs better. There's just something about that tartness from the mustard that I felt was lacking in this recipe. Oh, and I can really only eat one deviled egg. Any more than that then I start getting grossed out from the whole egg thing.

I've kind of had a heavy heart today. There are people that are dealing with sick babies in the hospital, sick friends or a sick parent. I've been praying a lot for all of them.

I'm hoping to get back into the swing of blogging again. There are things that I want to make sure I don't forget!
