The last couple months have been very interesting, unexpected ones for Kevin and me with regards to our jobs.
As you know, I've now been at my new job for a little over a month.
Meanwhile!
Kevin got an unexpected job offer with a very large, good company! It was an offer he couldn't pass up so he accepted, and his last day with his old job is tomorrow.
It's in the location he's wanted to work and the fact that he'll be making a lot more money is icing on the cake (I love cake)!
So everything has worked out beautifully with our new jobs. God works in amazing ways, doesn't He? ;)
However!
I need to vent a bit about my day today.
I arrived just barely on time so I felt a little flustered as I walked in the door.
I open my email and see four different emails for meeting requests; all between the time of 8:15-9:00 am.
Then, it was my turn to cover the receptionist desk while our receptionist took her breaks and lunch today. The phone system is incredibly antiquated, and all the extensions and buttons and whatnot were overwhelming! Luckily, I didn't disconnect any customers and I survived (barely). (Dramatic much? ;) )
In the meantime, there was a very important meeting I should've attended in the afternoon, but it seems I was somehow left off the invite, and since I had to cover the phones I couldn't attend said important meeting. I wasn't too pleased. And that means someone didn't do their job to include me. But I digress.
And here's the kicker that tops my day off:
I have a co-worker who is an assistant to my boss. Let's call this co-worker High Horse...HH for short, shall we? HH is about five years younger than me. In fact, I think HH is the youngest person in the entire department. Because of this, HH makes sure to always come off really competent and over confident. All in all, HH and I get along. We've gone to lunch together a few times and HH cracks me up. She's super funny and stuff - outside of work. Within work, it's been a little hard to take HH. So today I had two of my managers ask me to complete a task. So I did. After I completed the task HH comes to me all in a huff, and informs me "Kaysie, when you go to do [this], I need you to ask me before you do so. So-and-so is really upset and all in a tizzy that you did [this] and I really don't need grief about this. Because if there's grief about something like this, I'm going to send it right back to you."
Ummm....okay....
I gave her the stink eye while she lectured me, by the way. Because that's obviously the mature thing to do.
So I'm currently not a fan of HH at the moment. Maybe I'll sleep on my feelings towards HH and feel less mean towards her come morning time.
But since I like to end on a good note, I'm taking a day off this week and Kev and I are going to have a Day Date and go out to breakfast, then go shopping for him so he can get new work clothes, and then do a little wine tasting. We're excited.
Peace out!
