Graduation and Family

This past weekend was my cousin Christopher’s (aka Chris) high school graduation. According to my aunt, it’s a huge fete that he graduated, so it was a big event that I’m glad my family and I were able to be a part of.

I was supposed to head to Salinas Friday night after work, but I didn’t get home from work until 7 that night (ugh!), and I missed Kevin because he had been in Chicago most of last week for work, so I decided to stay home Friday night and we went to Chili’s for dinner and spent some time together.

Saturday I got up at 7 and headed to Salinas by 8 and then the fam (mom, dad, brother and I) headed off to Fresno by 12. We got to our hotel and rested a couple hours, then got ready and headed over to the graduation party. The party was held at Chris’s grandparents’ house (kind of like my extended grandparents). Their house is BEAUTIFUL, huge, and they have a swimming pool and tennis court in their backyard! Normally, the weather in Fresno is dreadfully hot; but that night it was absolutely beautiful! I was prepared to sweat all my makeup off my face and lotion off my body, but no sweating that night. PTL! ;) Haha! The party was great, the food was good and the company was even better. I haven’t seen a lot of this part of the extended family in YEARS! I’m talking probably 15-16 years. Kinda sad, but still good to catch up with everyone again.

Sunday morning we had to get up at the dreadful hour of 7am so my brother could get back to Fremont and throw one of his friends a birthday party. I hung out at the parental’s house until about 6 and helped my dad polish some of the Airstream he’s refurbishing, and had dinner with them. I wasn’t really in a rush to get back home because Kevin’s travelling for work again. I left about six, and what should’ve been an hour and a half drive home took me two hours and 45 minutes! If there’s one thing I hate, it’s traffic. I must have braked 58793 times! And there wasn’t even an accident. It was like all the cars were just stopped on 101 for no good reason. Talk about annoying. I made it home safe though, and that’s really all that matters, right? :)

I took a lot of pictures from the party so I’ll let you view them below at your leisure. Hope you all had a great weekend and I hope you had good weather too!

PS: The dress I’m wearing I got from TJ Maxx for $19 and I love it! I’m kinda into ruffles right now so it’s pretty much my favorite dress at the moment – and it’s comfy. Can’t beat that! TJ had it in the grey color and also a salmon color, which was pretty but didn’t come in my size.

DSC01222 The “kids.” Not really kids anymore, though! The last time I saw them Nick (the one in the front with the brown shirt) was probably eight months old, and his younger brother Tommy (the one in the white shirt in the front) wasn’t even born yet! Talk about a long time ago!
