Halloween Redeux

Since Halloween is coming up, I thought I'd share with you all some of my past Halloween costumes. This isn't all of them, but these are the only pictures I could scrounge up.

I guess I was a cat when I was three. Here I am feeding my brother something sour. There's another picture that shows his face afterwards and he's throwing a FIT because he didn't like whatever it was that I fed him. Haha! Ooops!

Looks like I was a cat again for another Halloween. I re-used this costume from my first talent show.

I dressed up as a 50's girl. This costume was another one that I had from a talent show. I was wearing Penny Loafers (that had actual pennies in them) and I loved those shoes! Pretty much wore them at all times. I have quite the look on my face in this picture...

Ugh! Hate this picture. I was attempting to be a Playboy Bunny. Epic. Fail.

The summer before this Halloween my roommates and I went to Vegas and watched the Chippendale's show. So I decided to be a Chippendale's waitress. Pretty much the best shape I've been in right here; and I was TAN! Oh, and I had to white-out the guy in the picture. It wasn't Kevin. Haha!

Race car driver one year. That's when I had blond highlights.

I was a Eskimo for one Halloween. I loved this costume so much because it was so warm, that I was an Eskimo for two years in a row. Whatevs!

Last year's Halloween costume choice. That was about 20 pounds heavier and a lot shorter hair. Ha!

Hope these gave you a good laugh! This year I won't be dressing up for Halloween, but will be handing out candy to the kiddos instead. Hope you all have a safe, and fun Halloween this weekend!

Polling Fall

Okay, I need some suggestions people. Fall is here and there are some things occurring that I need opinions about, so please comment away.

1) My hair has been a frizzy, unmanageable mess now that the weather is colder and also given the fact that I blow dry it everyday. Is there anything out there that you all use that helps tame the frizz craze and keeps your hair from drying out?

2) Now that I no longer bite my nails, I have to make sure they're painted at all times. What color nail polish do you all like for Fall? Also, any suggestions on nail polish that doesn't chip? What I have chips within a day of applying it and it drives me nuts!

3) We're having my family over for Thanksgiving this year and we're in charge of getting the turkey and making desserts. I'm going to, of course, make the requisite pumpkin pie (Kevin's favorite). If I'm feeling ambitious, I may attempt a homemade pumpkin pie, like Cory did. But the key word in that previous sentence was "IF," people. Pumpkin guts tend to gross me out, so my pumpkin mix may be coming straight out of the can. Any other great and unique Thanksgiving recipes out there that you want to share with me? :)

4) Any boots you have that you are loving? I'm in desperate need of a new pair of black boots and brown boots. I'm looking specifically for ones that have a heel (not too high), not pointy and they go up to just below the knee.

5) This doesn't really have to do with Fall, but for those of you who are married, where did you get your invitations from? My parents want to pay for nice ones so I'm on the lookout and I'm not even sure where to begin. This came as a surprise to me because I was all for printing out our own invitations on some I found at Michael's. But who am I to turn down the opportunity to get really nice ones made that I don't have to pay for! Ha!

And on a side note, I'd just like to say that Fall-smelling candles really warm my soul!

So please comment away, and include links too if you have suggestions! :)

Shasta Lake

So about a month ago Kevin, my family and I all spent about a week at Shasta Lake. Again, I'm way behind on posting about this, but better late than never!

Basically, we spent a ton of time eating, drinking and relaxing. So all in all, it was an excellent vacation. Oh, and Kevin and I got engaged, which makes it extra excellent for us :)

Enjoy the many pictures I took (prepare for picture overload!)...

My poor attempt at being a "photographer." ;)

Water as smooth as glass.

We caught frogs (and let them go).

We spotted a Bald Eagle. Very cool.

Fishing!

Kahlua wasn't a fan of taking a dip in the lake ;)

And that was our trip! We were planning on taking another one next year, but with the wedding coming up, I think we'll have to push it back until 2012. We can't wait to go again!

Our weekend...

Involved a lot of...

...naps...

...football...

...snuggles...

...and checking of our Fantasy Football teams (my team won, woo hoo! Kevin's didn't, ha!).

Also, Kevin surprised me with flowers on Saturday! He's never done that before. I mean, he'll usually get me flowers for my birthday or our anniversary, but never flowers just because. I think he's a keeper! ;)

On Saturday I also met up for coffee at Panera with this pretty lady (Erica). It's been way too long since we've caught up, and that was evident by our two-and-a-half hour conversation! Whew! But it was great convo and I can't wait until we can meet up again!

How was your weekend?

Random (adj.): Lacking any definite plan or order or purpose

Can I just say that today feels like it's going to be an excellent Friday. I'm digging the rainy weather because I can whip my scarves out now :)

********************

Speaking of whip: what do you all think about Willow Smith's song "Whip My Hair?" I'm undecided at the moment. But at least her music video (proceed to this music video with caution - that song really gets stuck in your head for no less than three days) is kid friendly! It's nice to see that kids can still be kids. Unlike some of these kids in the entertainment business who feel the need to act way older than they actually are. One in particular, who's name rhymes with Smiley Myrus. Not of a fan of her.

********************

Every Friday it seems I've created a little habit. I get into work, stop by the coffee shop and get 1/2 coffee with 1/2 hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin. It makes me happy. BTW, coffee and I do not get along. I'm a somewhat high-strung person so adding a full cup of caffeine to that usually isn't the best idea, for me or others within my vicinity. That's why I tone it down with some hot chocolate.

********************

Yesterday I inhaled far too much salty food and today my fingers are so swollen. My ring is feeling slightly snug!

********************

Tomorrow Kevin and I are going to see Paranormal Activity 2. I don't know why I torture myself like this. However, we're going to see it in the daytime so it won't be dark after it's over and I don't have to go to bed immediately after watching it. When we saw the first one I had the hardest time sleeping for a good two weeks! As is the norm, I'll probably end up covering my eyes and plugging my ears throughout half of it. Ha!

********************

This weekend will be the first weekend in a long time that Kevin and I will be home! We've been on the go every weekend for what seems like a sweet forever. Since it'll be a stormy weekend, I'll be making pull pork sandwiches for dinner tomorrow night :)

********************

Co-worker has been out on PTO this week because she's in Egypt (random). I've had to take on her workload this week and lets just say that I'll be more than happy to hand it all back over to her when she returns on Monday.

********************

I get to meet up with one of my BFF's from high school for coffee tomorrow! I'm so excited. Her and I were in dance together for years growing up. We kind of lost touch after high school but we recently discovered that we don't live too far from each other. I'm excited. I don't have many girlfriends that live near me so it'll be good to reconnect.

*******************

Speaking of dancing, I don't know if I ever told you I used to be a ballet dancer for twelve years. Not professional or anything, but enough that it took up most of my free time with classes, recitals, Nutcracker and competitions. I'll have to do a separate post about my dancing days for you all! With pictures included (yikes!).

*******************

So this post is somewhat lackluster. I just don't have much to offer today, it seems. I will say that I'm super excited for some new followers I've gained, and I'm also excited for following these new followers as well!

*******************

HAPPY FRIDAY! That is all.

The Big Two-One!

A few weeks ago we went up to Reno to help celebrate my future sister-in-law's 21st birthday! And I'm just now getting around to posting about it because I'm really on top of things like that ;)

We got there on Saturday and the plan was to have a nice BBQ at a park. Well, as soon as we arrived so did the thunder. And the rain. So luckily one of Courtney's good friends said we could all go over to her house and BBQ there. It was a little miserable with the rain and such, but we all had a great time eating, drinking, visiting and playing Cornhole. Later that night we all went out to a bar to finish off the celebrating!

Here are some pictures from that night...

My future family! Love them :)

SISTERS!

Ha! Frug, Matt and cousin Nate

The story with this picture is that ever since Courtney turned 21, no one would really card her (she looks older than she is). So when we got there this bouncer never carded her (we got there early before he was at the door). So Debbie snuck over to him and asked him if he could card Courtney for her birthday and we had it documented. I think he's kinda cute!

I cannot believe Frug is already 21! It seems like just yesterday when Kevin and I first started dating that she just got her driver's license. I'm so excited that she can legally go have drinks with us now! Love you sis!

*The reason we call Courtney "Frug" is because when she was about two years old, she attempted to put a baby frog in her mouth. Hence the name Frug. You know, frog/frug? :)
