There really needs to be three days in a weekend

This past weekend flew by, as weekends tend to do.

My FIL came into town to visit and he and Kevin had a nice weekend together.

Friday night we all went out to dinner for sushi. Mistake #1: It was right at Preslie's bedtime. Mistake #2: I failed to bring an extra change of clothes for her. Our child gagged herself to make herself vomit three times while at dinner! By the end of the meal (which we had to wait an hour-and-a-half for!) she was "that child" with nothing on but a diaper and bib, walking around outside with one of us to keep her occupied.

Preslie and her Auntie before dinner on Friday.

Saturday, I was able to go grocery shopping alone *angels singing* while P napped and Kevin and my FIL worked on our new office. I haven't posted about this yet, but we put up a wall in a huge room we have in the front of the house to make an office/man cave for Kevin. Our old office is now Landon's nursery. The new office will be a long work in progress since there is much to do in there still.

That night Kevin made some great steak and shrimp tacos. I ate way too much. Red meat is my go-to right now, so I can't pass up some good steak tacos!

Relaxing with Papa.

Sunday came around and Kev drove my FIL to the airport and then he went golfing (yeah... I'm a nice wife ;)) while P and I stayed home and I washed a lot of Landon's clothes and ironed most. Call me crazy, but I have a thing about my kids' clothes being ironed. I don't iron them all, but the ones that have collars, ruffles or wrinkles must be ironed.

I only had to put Preslie in timeout once on Sunday, so I count that as a good day. She decided to pick up the dog's bowl of food and dump it all out on the floor. She knows she's not supposed to do that so that earned her a time out. And while she was crying in the timeout spot, I was struggling to bend over with a belly the size of a watermelon to pick up the dog food off the ground.
Pouting in timeout

I should also mention that I hadn't taken a shower in two days by this point. I like to keep things real like that. Preslie also had a cold that started over the weekend and we wiped lots of snot. And...Kevin's car stopped working mid-u-turn as he was driving to the hardware store on Saturday.

This is our life! :)

Mondays and a Sunburn

Well, it's Monday....

Even though I had a three-day weekend, I am still not a fan of The Monday.

I pretty much did a whole lot of laying-by-the-pool-all-day-and-got-too-much-sun business over the past three days.

I was so sunburned yesterday that I don't think I was thinking straight because I had the bright idea to go to Target and try on clothes and oh my word was my skin BURNING! I was a hot, sweaty mess after leaving that dressing room. Never again.

Kev and I saw Hunger Games on Saturday night. It was pretty good! There were only a couple cheesy parts, but nothing compares to the cheesiness of the Twilight movies, so I'll take it. Ha!

I cooked last night for the first time since living at my MIL's house. I made shredded chicken. Real special, right? I don't know, but since it's not my house I don't really feel like I can be my normal, domestic self and decorate and cook and all that kind of stuff. It's been a little bit of a tough adjustment for me. *sigh*

We're down to my last week of work at my current job! I'm pretty much ready to be done with it. However, I am under no assumption that my next job is going to be any better, in regards to workload and demands. I'm just ready for something different.

I'm thinking about getting a gym membership to a fitness club that is across the street from my new office. I can go work out during my lunch break. Plus, it'll give me something to do. I kind of feel like I have a lot of free time on my hands lately.

Anyone do anything exciting over the weekend? Do tell!

Peace out,

The Biggest Little City in the World!

A couple weeks ago Kev and I headed to Reno where we spent a weekend gambling, eating, drinking and just having a good time together.

That Friday when we got into town we took his sister out to dinner. My stomach was hurting pretty badly so I wasn't able to enjoy the amazing food at the Thai restaurant we went to, but it sure smelled good! Once Kev and I got to our hotel I pretty much laid in bed for the rest of the night and I told Kev to go down to the casino and have some fun without me (but not too much fun!).

My goofy husband.
Saturday we slept in and had such a good breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. Obviously, my stomach had started to feel better. ;) From there we went to another hotel/casino where I had scheduled us to each get Hot Stone Massages at a spa. One word: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! If you haven't had one, you need to get one. Afterwards, we gambled for a bit then headed back to our hotel and took a nap. That evening we went to Kevin's uncle's house and had dinner with his family.

A little vino two-buck-chuck, fireside.

I love the way Cris (Kevin's aunt) decorates. These colors are pretty much my fave.
We went back to the hotel afterwards and I decided to really learn how to play Blackjack that night and we ended up gambling until 4am!!! We (and by 'we' I mean Kevin) won a couple hundred dollars, so it felt worth it.

Sunday we really slept in then finally headed home.

It was nice to get some time away and be together and reconnect. We decided we're going to try and make time to do that every few months or so. It's good for the soul. :)

Lazy

I've been such a lazy blogger lately. No other reason than that!

This past weekend Kev and I had a nice, relaxing weekend at home. We attended a meeting on Saturday morning about a new business venture we're going to get started in. We're hoping in a year or two we'll be completely debt free and I no longer have to work. If you're interested in finding out more about it send me an email at chasersofkaysersblog [at] yahoo [dot] com. (I'm not a salesperson, and I'm not going to try and pitch this business opportunity on here but if you want to know more I'd be glad to email you about it).

I got all of our Christmas shopping done on Saturday as well. After that experience I know now more than ever why I much prefer to do Christmas shopping online rather than in stores. I hate lines and people! There are crazy drivers and rude customers out in the world during the holidays. Isn't it supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year???

The line at Kohl's. Ugh!
I cleaned the house and finished laundry, and that night for dinner I made Jenna's Chicken Rollups. They were tasty! I even froze a second batch that we can have for dinner some other night.

Sunday I pretty much stayed in my PJ's until 3pm. Then I decided I wanted to do some baking so I went from PJ's to sweats and headed to the grocery store. I ended up making three tasty treats: Avalanche Bars (these are pretty much the best things I've ever tasted!), Chocolate Toffee Bars, and White Chocolate Covered Oreos (all recipes found through Pinterest). Luckily, they were all really easy recipes so it wasn't too exhausting, because you know I had done so little much that day already, what with lounging in my PJs and all. ;)

Now all these sweets are at our house and in my office -- which leads me to eat them. That WW plan I talked about a couple weeks ago isn't going over so well.

'Tis the season!

Hidden Treasures

While we were in Tahoe, Kevin and I headed to a little town nearby and browsed a couple shops and went down to the water for a bit. When we were browsing I decided to take some pictures. They’re nothing interesting, but I’d like to document them, nonetheless.

Babies 041I love silver!

Babies 031“When you stop and look around…life is pretty amazing.”

Babies 032“Remember…as far as anyone knows, we are a normal family.” HA! I love this! I’m pretty sure this can describe everyone’s family. I know it does ours! :)

Babies 033“Here is where our story begins.”

Babies 034“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Babies 035“Faith makes things possible…not easy.”

Babies 036“Relax you’re on Tahoe Time.” Oh so true!!!

 Babies 037Quirky weird ornaments.

 Babies 038I LOVED this doorknob!

Babies 039“My best friend has a tail and a cold, wet nose!” This may or may not be true. ;)

Babies 040 A very cool copper teapot. I wanted to take it home with me!

And, a few photos of the amazingly blue, Lake Tahoe!

Wonderful Weekend

That pretty much describes how the weekend went. :)

Mom and Grandma Ruth came up Friday night and we got to spend a lot of girl time this weekend, just the three of us. I don’t really spend a whole lot of time around Grandma Ruth so it was nice to spend some good, quality time with her this weekend. She’s pretty funny!

Saturday was my bridal shower thrown by my future SIL and future MIL. It was so great and so fun! They did an awesome job. Once I get pictures I’ll tell you more about it.

Since my showers are all done now, I went through all of our new dishes, china, flatware and silverware to make sure nothing was broken or missing from the sets.

Here is a portion of what we’ve received. We feel very blessed and grateful for all of this.

According to our registries, we’ve received full sets of everything at this point. I’m so surprised and thrilled because people have told me that it’s no fun having to fill in sets after your wedding, but luckily we won’t have to! :)

Among all the great gifts we’ve received, I am BEYOND EXCITED about this one…

6.5.11 Please excuse the gnarly scratch on our old desk. ;)

Kevin’s aunt and uncle graciously gifted us this wonderful camera – a Canon Rebel. I am obsessed with it and have been playing around with it all last night and all day today. Here are a few photos I’ve taken that I thought turned out pretty well for a newbie…

6.5.11 003 The stink eye.

As you can see, Kahlua is my primary subject of photos at the moment. Trust me, I have way more on the camera, but I’ll spare you. ;)

So, like I said, it’s been a wonderful weekend. We’re feeling very loved and blessed.

Thankful,

A Day at the Races

On Sunday, Kevin and I headed to Golden Gate Fields to partake in Dollar Day at the races. It was the first time we’ve gone and it was so much fun!

Races 001

Parking, admission, beer, water and hot dogs were all only $1.00. One dollar, people!! Ha! The weather was absolutely gorgeous (considering it rained all day on Saturday) and the people there were all really nice. Everyone was just there to have a good time, be with friends and relax.

I didn’t sport a big hat because it was my first time attending a horse race, so I thought I’d leave that to the professionals. Like this guy…

Races 003 Races 004 I have no idea who he is. He was in front of us with a group of people. But he was funny so I thought I’d snap a few random photos of him. Haha!

Races 002 And they’re off!

We didn’t really bet. I let Kevin handle that, and I think he only bed like $5 or $10 and didn’t end up winning. What can I say? You win some, you lose some. ;)

When we were walking to our car this is the view we were greeted with. Breathtaking, isn’t it? Welcome to my city by the bay!

Keeping It Real

To be perfectly honest: life is crazy right now. Along with the wedding there are some changes coming up (that I can’t really go into detail about right now) that have added a lot to our already over-flowing plate. Because of this, I haven’t found any time to stay organized and I feel so frazzled.

A lot of times bloggers like to portray their best light when journaling their lives. Since I also use this blog as my journal, I wanted to document this time in our lives when things aren’t going exactly perfect and what it looks like.

Life 001This morning the wooden frame on our bed broke. So this was our room, completely torn apart for most of the day while Kevin fixed the frame. At least the carpet underneath our bed got a good vacuuming! ;)

Life 002 Our office has been severely neglected. Wedding stuff has taken over, along with everything else that hasn’t yet found a home.

Life 003Our poor spare bedroom – aka my closet – is a disaster, isn’t it?! I try to pretend that this room doesn’t exist when it looks like this.

Life 004And the never-ending piles of laundry. *sigh*

I spent most of today cleaning the house (the office included) and tackling some of the laundry. The bed is fixed and clean sheets are on it. The spare bedroom will have to wait until tomorrow.

I’ve always been someone that has to have things be organized, clean, neat, tidy, run like a well-oiled machine (you get the point) to function. And that’s just not happening right now. But, I’m thankful that God has blessed me with an amazing fiancé who will cook and clean the kitchen, and also help fold the laundry. I’m always thankful that God is teaching me the values of patience and priorities. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure I’d have lost my ever-loving mind by this point. Ha!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I also wanted to say thank you to all those who have served, and continue to serve to protect our great country.

God bless,

Easter Weekend

We spent Easter weekend with Kevin’s family. We always have a great time when we visit. I love big families!

The green squiggly one on the right is the one I made. I think it’s safe to say that I am not artistically inclined. ;)

On Sunday we had plans to be at church by 10. Well the devil was trying to do everything he could to not let us go. We had to turn back around twice for one reason or the other. Then when we finally did make it to church it started raining as hard as I’ve ever seen it rain the second we stepped out of the car. We were late, but we were there and it was a great Easter service.

Easter 013

After church and brunch I took about a three hour nap and it was glorious! Then I went outside and helped Kevin cut wood … not so glorious. But it was good exercise!

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter!
