Defining Calories

Calories are the little buggers that get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter.

My closet is infested with the little shits!

Happy Friday!!! :)

Random Tidbits

Co-worker here at workplace has been bringing her personal life into said workplace. While I know it's hard to take care of all your personal stuff outside of work - when you're telling off your sister-in-law and everyone on the floor can hear your phone conversation - there comes a time when you should really take your personal business elsewhere. Just sayin'...

*******

I have to wash my feet every night before I get into bed. There is just something about having cool, clean feet right when you crawl into bed that I love!

*******

Good: Kevin made Pad Thai for dinner last night from scratch, and it was scrumptious!
Bad: He said it was way too much work and won't be doing that again. Boo!

*******

I injured my wrist at work two weeks ago while filing documents. I submitted my Worker's Comp claim a couple days ago and was sent to some janky clinic. The doctor who saw me was a complete b-word and I was not satisfied with her "findings" at all. I'm thinking of getting a second opinion. Hmmm...

*******

I have not had a full night's sleep since Sunday evening. It sure is catching up to me today. Because of this, certain other health things have not been going right. I'll spare you the details, though.

*******

I cannot wait for our vacation to Shasta Lake in two weeks, which will include eating, drinking, sunbathing, patio-boating, kayaking, eating, fishing, family time and did I mention eating? Ha!

*******

Everyone and their mother is getting engaged - literally! This includes my 50-something year-old uncle and his girlfriend of 10+ years. Since they met at 7-Eleven, she wants her wedding colors to be green, orange and red. They're wedding date is set for 8-7-11. Hmmm....interesting....

*******

I have no desire, urge or motivation to be productive at work today. However, it seems to me that it's a lot more work to actually look like you're working when in fact, you're not.

*******

The end.

Weekend Wrap Up

Hey there. I'm kind of in an irked-type-of-mood today. *sigh* A co-worker is back from vacation today and she FAH-REAKS out over everything and I just can't deal with high-strung people sometimes. Life is too short to be so negative and spreading that negativity around to everyone else nearby.

Anyhoo! Wanted to give an update on our Labor Day weekend. I seriously felt like I was in the car the whole time. Ha!

Friday: I got off at 11:30, headed home, packed up, and Kahlua and I were off to Salinas to my parents' house. As soon as I got home I freshened up and my mom and I headed off to the Rodeo Office to visit with our ladies there and have a cocktail (or two).

Margie and Mom

Alison and Me

Afterwards, Alison and I went to get some dinner and have some drinks and discuss her engagement! She's getting married next year. Exciting!

Saturday: Slept in! Pretty much stayed in my PJ's until 12, then finally got ready for the day and headed off to San Luis Obispo (SLO) to spend some time with Kevin. He was in SLO for his Fantasy Football Draft (which was on Sunday). Once I got to SLO we stopped at Firestone to have a beer with some friends of ours.

How adorable is this little guy?! His name is Toki. He's only a few months old and he is so well behaved. I wanted to take him home with me!

From there we headed to dinner at F. McClintocks.

We decided to step outside the box and ordered an appetizer of their famous Turkey Nuts. They are exactly what they sound like: Turkey Nuts. And they were not very tasty, in my opinion. You know the saying "everything tastes better fried?" Well...not in this case. They pretty much made me lose my appetite for dinner so I didn't eat much that evening.

Afterwards, Kevin and I headed back to our hotel (which was free because Kevin was able to use his points since he travels so much!), took a nap until 9:30 that night, then got up and ready and headed back downtown for some drinks with friends. It was such a fun night!

Sunday: I somehow managed to get up at 9 and ready and hit the road by 10. Once I got back to Salinas Mom and I headed to Gilroy and Morgan Hill to do a little shopping to finish decorating the Airstream (pics will be coming in a separate post). We stopped at this store in Gilroy called Home Goods and oh my word!! I could spend HOURS in that store! They had so many Fall decorations. I somehow contained myself and only got two things, but next time I'm on my way to Salinas, I'm definitely stopping by there again to stock up on some decorations. Great stuff! After five hours of shopping we made it back to Salinas, decorated the Airstream, hottubbed, Dad BBQ'd and I was in bed by 10.

Monday: Had a great night's sleep and headed home. Miraculously there was no traffic whatsoever! So I made it back home in great time. Since I was home by 1, I had a lot of time on my hands (because Kevin was just leaving SLO at this point) so I decided to clean our entire house. I can't remember the last time our house was this clean! I cleaned under the couches, the floorboards, the window sills, all the bathrooms and bedrooms. I started at 2 and didn't finish until 9 that night, so needless to say I was completely exhausted. But I love a clean home and it feels so nice to have that done with. Now this weekend Kevin and I can concentrate on getting the outside areas cleaned up and ready for Fall.

Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!! xoxo

To Do's

Since we've been out of town almost every weekend for quite some time, a lot of things have been neglected at our house. I'm just itching to do a thorough cleaning of everything before Fall comes because we're pretty much holed up in the house once the cold weather hits and I hate a messy home.

I can't do much after work at nights since I get home kind of late and try to spend time with Kevin and get ready for the next day. I did however manage to organize my closet on Thursday. I took out all the clothes that are too big and no longer fit me (I've lost two sizes and 14 pounds! Woot woot!) and stored those away. I don't want to get rid of them because whenever I get pregnant (hopefully in a couple years) it'd be nice to have some clothes that will get me through the first few months. I also put some clothes aside to donate to some church members at my Grandma Ruth's church. So it felt great to purge!

In addition, I made sure to change out all my hangers to white hangers. Anal much? I think NOT! ;) But I think it looks a lot cleaner and more organized.

As you can see, I have my old high school cheerleading uniforms up in the closet. I don't have a clue what to do with that stuff. I'd hate to get rid of them because it cost so much money to buy all that stuff back then. But honestly, I'll never wear (or be able to fit into) those uniforms again! Suggestions???

Oops! I think I see a blue hanger in there! ;)

I'll have to go back through my closet in a couple months once it gets colder and switch things around so my warmer clothes are more readily available and stash away my cooler clothes until next year.

Some other things on my To Do list include:

1) Weeding the front yard (which I despise)
2) Cleaning the floorboards throughout the house
3) Cleaning our bathrooms. It's pretty sad how dirty they are right now.
4) Trying to get every last bit of laundry done.
5) Re-organize our linen closet.
6) Make Kevin go through his clothes and donate things he no longer wears.
7) Contact our landlord to get an exterminator out to our house to take care of our Yellow Jacket infestation. Eeek!
8) Go through my Fall decorations and see what needs to be tossed and if I need to purchase anything (which is not a necessity, but I always like to add to my Fall collection ;)).

So that's it for now. Do any of you get the urge to clean house before Spring and or Fall?

Trip to LA - Day 2

My second day in Los Angeles, I slept in until 11am! I can't remember the last time I've done that. There is good reason though, and that has to do with the unbelievable comfortableness of Maygan's bed. I wish I could've taken her bed and pillows home with me on the plane!

Our first stop was to go back to the dress store so Maygan's mom and Alana could see Maygan in her new dress. They loved it just as much as Maygan's sister and I did the first time. Maygan also found a perfect veil on the second day. In addition! We also found our bridesmaid dresses! And again, at such a great price! I really can't believe how smoothly everything is going for Maygan's wedding. It's really no surprise though because she's a very laid back type of person and just goes with the flow, and everything is just flowing right along :)

We had some lunch, then headed back home to rest up for our big night on the town. We decided to hit up Sgt. Pepper's Dueling Piano Cafe in Long Beach, and can I just say, that it did not disappoint! (Amy, you would love this place!) It was SO. MUCH. FUN! I haven't had that much fun on a night out in a very long time. If you're ever in that area, I highly recommend you check it out. The pianists literally knew any and every song that people requested. We were all singing and dancing our little hearts out! Here are some pictures from our fun night...

Alana, myself and Maygan

The two pianos and pianists up on stage doing their thang!

We were all rocking some very fierce heels that night! ;)

Chocolate cake shots. They didn't seem so great the next morning with I woke up with a POUNDING headache.

Alana and her friend Sigrid who met up with us later that night.

Love my girls!

I *heart* my Bestie!

Maygan and Sigrid rocking out together. Ha!

We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! I think at this point they were playing "Living On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Pretty much a pre-requisite night-out song!

We didn't end up getting home until 2am! I felt way too old to be staying up that late, and my body definitely felt old the next morning when I had to get up and get ready to head to the airport.

Needless to say, it was an amazing trip and I can't wait to go visit again!

Trip to LA - Day 1

Well! That was nice little bloggy break! I got back from LA on Sunday afternoon and I don't think I recovered from that trip until last night, when I had to start packing for another trip away from home for the Labor Day weekend coming up. Let's just say that I couldn't be more happy that the next couple weekends I don't have anything to do but just rest. Our poor house and garden have been so neglected since we've been gone practically every weekend for the past month and a half.

Anyhoo, as I said, last weekend I visited a couple of my besties in Los Angeles. It was such a fun girls weekend! There was a lot of eating, drinking and shopping to be had that weekend.

The night of my arrival Alana, Maygan and I just vegged out on the couch, gossiped and enjoyed wine (Alana and Maygan) and champagne (my personal favorite). It was so great to have some good, girl convos!

My first full day there we had a lot to do. We HAD to go see the new baby. Kyra is absolutely adorable, and so PRETTY! I just couldn't get enough of her. I went a little overboard with the picture-taking of this tiny person, but I couldn't help myself. These are just a few of the pictures I took. I don't want to put ya'll in baby overload ;)

Kyra and her Auntie M (aka Maygan)

I sat with her in the back seat during our shopping excursion and I probably took no less than 50 photos of the poor thing. Ha!

The flash was a little too much for her.

Our first stop that day was for Kyra's five-week appointment. There was a mix up with insurance though, so she didn't end up getting her shots. Which is a blessing in disguise because I think I would've probably cried once she was poked.

Snoozing away after the uneventful doctor's visit.

Our next stop was dress shopping for Maygan's wedding dress! I've never been wedding dress shopping before and let me tell you: it was so much fun! Maygan had about five dresses lined up to try on and she found HER DRESS on the second one! It was amazing, and she looked absolutely amazing in it!

Maygan perusing a catalogue to pick some dresses to try on.

Waiting to say 'yes to the dress!'

So the second dress she tried on was the dress (as I just mentioned), and to make things even better, she got is at such an amazing price! Since it best not to show her whole dress, Maygan gave me permission to share little tid-bit of her dress for your viewing pleasure...

Trust me, it's so beautiful!

After Maygan's successful dress shopping excursion, we made a couple stops at two different Ross's (in which I found a pair of shoes at each store that I just had to have) and we finally headed back to Maygan's house where we met up with Alana and made a great taco salad for dinner. The rest of the night we watched two movies with Ryan Reynolds in it. We all have a pretty big crush on him. Such a gorgeous man!

I'll be posting tomorrow about day two of my LA trip. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!!
